Best YouTube transcript generators
facts checked on
The best YouTube transcript generator depends on what you need from the text. For a free transcript with no sign-up, YTTools, TubeToTranscript, YouTubeScribe and Tactiq each return one from a pasted link. For a transcript with an AI summary, NoteGPT, Glasp, Eightify and Transcriptube add one. For a video that has no captions at all, NoteGPT and Transcriptube recognise the speech themselves.
The table compares nine tools on six things: what is free, whether you need an account, the formats you can save, what happens when a video has no captions, whether there is an AI summary, and where paid plans start.

Each tool, in a paragraph
Transcriptube
Transcriptube is this site. Paste a link and the page shows the full transcript and an AI summary with the minute each point was said. It works with YouTube videos and Shorts, TikTok, Instagram Reels, public Facebook videos, and audio or video files you upload.
Without an account you get 2 videos a day, each with its transcript, an AI summary for a video up to 1.5 hours, copying and a .txt download. The SRT, VTT, DOCX and PDF files are on paid plans.
A video with no captions is recognised from its sound, up to 4 hours long; one up to 10 minutes is one of the day's free videos, and longer ones are paid. Plans are Basic $6.99, Pro $14.99 and Max $29.99 a month, and a single video can be opened with a one-off payment from $1.99.
Eightify
Eightify is a Chrome extension, with iOS and Android apps, that writes AI summaries of YouTube videos "of any length, up to 10 hours" in 40+ languages and includes a transcript generator. Its Chrome Web Store listing offers "a 7-day free trial" with "no charge until trial ends"; the subscription price is not shown on the listing.
A note on the source: eightify.app refused automated requests on the day of the check, so these facts are read from Eightify's official Chrome Web Store listing rather than from its site.

How this page was put together
Every fact about another tool was read from that tool's own pages on 5 October 2026, and each paragraph above names the address it came from. Where a site does not state something, the table says "not stated" rather than guessing. There are no scores and no ranking here: the table holds what each tool says about itself, and which one fits depends on what you need.
The Transcriptube row describes what this site does today, with the same limits and prices as the pricing page. Transcriptube is run by IT Nest Limited, a company registered in Hong Kong – see About. If something here is out of date, write to support@transcriptube.com and it will be corrected.
